Provost to become UMass Chancellor

Subject: Provost to become UMass Chancellor
I am writing today to notify the campus community that Provost Bob Holub has accepted the job of chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While we are sad to see Bob go and will miss his academic leadership, I know the entire community joins me in wishing him great success in his new endeavor.
Bob has had a significant impact on the teaching and learning environment of the university. In just two years, he has built a strong staff and focused efforts on improving retention and student access and success. He also initiated and led with great vision the strategic planning process and enhancements to our Ready for the World initiatives.
He will transition to his new role this summer. I plan to name an interim provost in the next few weeks and will seek input from faculty
members and other campus leaders in that decision.
