We recently compiled a list of UT Knoxville's rankings in some of the most prestigious publications that review colleges and universities nationwide and worldwide. You've probably seen some of these rankings reported as they were published. I thought you might enjoy seeing them collectively; the list is impressive.

Summary of National Rankings for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville
August, 2009: 2010 U.S. News & World Report ranks UT Knoxville among Nation’s Top Public Institutions.
- UT Knoxville was 52nd among all public universities.
- UT Knoxville was ranked 106th among all national universities (up two spots from last year).
- Improving graduation rates made “Top 100 List.”
- Undergraduate Supply Chain/Management/Logistics program was 5th among public institutions and 7th nationally.
- MBA Supply Chain/Logistics Program was 5th among top-tier public institutions and 9th nationwide.
- College of Business undergraduate program ranked 28th among public universities, tied with University of Kansas; 48th nationwide.
- College of Business overall graduate program ranked 54th nationally and 27th among public universities.
- Full-time MBA Program was 27th among top-tier public institutions; 54th nationwide.
- College of Engineering Undergraduate program ranked 32nd among public universities and 64th on the national list.
- College of Engineering’s nuclear engineering graduate program ranked 12th nationally and 11th among all public institutions.
- Engineering’s overall graduate program was 68th nationally, up one place from last year, and 40th among public universities.
- College of Law’s clinical training program was ranked 15th nationally and fifth among public universities, up one spot from last year.
- The College of Law’s overall ranking was 59th nationally and 29th among all public universities.
- The College of Education, Health and Human Sciences graduate program ranked 41st nationally and 28th among public institutions.
- College of Nursing graduate program ranked 72nd nationally.
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine ranked UT Knoxville one of the top 100 universities in the nation in 2009 for “best value.”
2010 Forbes Magazine names UT Knoxville one of America’s Best Colleges.
- UT Knoxville ranked 422 out of 600, representing the top 14 percent of four-year undergraduate institutions.
- UT Knoxville’s MBA program ranked 42 out of 75 of the nation’s best business schools.
The Center for College Affordability and Productivity named UT Knoxville 70th out of 100 in its Best-Value Ranking.
DIVERSE magazine named UT Knoxville among its top 100 Degree Producers for African American doctorate degrees.
July, 2009: The Princeton Review ranks UT Knoxville among “371 Best Colleges,” citing its affordability, “vibrant academic and social atmosphere” and a “broad range of students.” The 371 colleges surveyed represent the top 14 percent of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education.
- UT Knoxville was cited for the second year in a row for its environmental friendliness, scoring 85 on the publication’s “green rating.”
- Make Orange Green, UT Knoxville’s environmental effort, has been recognized as one of the top campus environmental programs.
- UT Knoxville was the first university in the state to institute a student-initiated fee for the purchase of green power.
- The Princeton Review also named UT Knoxville a “Best Southeastern College” for its high standards and outstanding reputation among higher education institutions in the Southeast.
June, 2009: G. I. Jobs magazine named UT Knoxville a “Military Friendly School.” This ranking puts UT Knoxville in the top 15% of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide.
AMR Research, the leading research firm focused on the global supply chain and its supporting technologies, ranked UT Knoxville sixth among 19 participating universities in a recent study.
- As for the depth of supply chain/logistics program category, UT Knoxville tied for third.
- In the industry value category that determines whether companies feel UT Knoxville is delivering as promised, UT Knoxville ranked among the top five “because of strength in company recruiting mentions and an average base salary across programs of $85,000.”
May, 2009: Transportation Journal ranks UT Knoxville’s Supply Chain and Logistics faculty second among logistics researchers worldwide.
Jan., 2009: Princeton Review ranks UT Knoxville among the 100 “Best Value Colleges,” based on undergraduate academics, affordability, and financial aid. UT Knoxville was the only university in Tennessee to make the public colleges list.
