Help for Victims of Haiti Earthquake
To: Knoxville-area UT Faculty, Staff and Students
From: Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek
Date: January 15, 2010
Many of you have expressed concern for the victims of this week's catastrophic earthquake in Haiti and wondered how you can help. As we all know, the people affected are lacking the most basic necessities and your contributions can help as the nation struggles to recover. Below is a list distributed by the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) which includes links to many established organizations responding to the crisis.
In addition, members of the Student Government Association will collect money for the relief effort before tomorrow's men's basketball game at Thompson-Boling Arena. The game starts at 1:30 p.m.
If you are working with a local effort and would like to share details with the UT community through Tennessee Today, please send the information to utnews@utk.edu.
I appreciate your concern for others and I urge you to contribute in whatever way you can.
Remote Area Medical. Accepting donations. Call Chris Caldwell (865) 599-1044 or Angie at (865) 455-9635.
