Alexander Prize
The Alexander Prize is named for former UT president and now Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander and his wife, Honey. It recognizes superior classroom teaching and distinguished scholarship.
This year’s Alexander Prize goes to Dr. David W. Schumann, the William J. Taylor Professor of Business in the Department of Marketing and Logistics. His consistently high student evaluations and popularity as a mentor for other faculty have made him known as a “master teacher” in his department. Dr. Schumann was instrumental in developing the Marketing and Logistics Peer Teaching Review document and is a significant contributor to the peer-review process. He is a productive scholar with recent works on a wide range of topics, including a co-edited book on Internet advertising. He is director of the Interest Group for the Study of Marketing Communication in a Diverse Society, a group of students, faculty, and practitioners representing 10 social science disciplines.
