Angie Warren Perkins Award
Presented by the Commission for Women
Angie Warren Perkins was the first dean of women at the University of Tennessee, at the turn of the 20th century. The award named for her recognizes an outstanding faculty member.
This year’s award goes to jie (jayne) wu, assistant professor of electrical engineering, who also was honored this year with an award for Professional Promise in Research and Creative Achievement. In addition to her pioneering research accomplishments, Wu is passionate about bringing that research to her students. She has mentored a McNair Scholar, who went on to present several papers and represent UT at the McNair Scholars Research Conference. Wu also has been active in developing labs for undergraduates in cutting-edge microscience and nanoscience. Her distinguished scholarship and mentoring of others make her well worthy of this award.
