Presented by the Commission for Blacks, the Hardy Liston Symbol of Hope Award goes to faculty, staff or friends of the university who demonstrate a commitment to diversity, multiculturalism and appreciating the differences of people and cultures on our campus.

ERIC STOKESEric Stokes
Eric Stokes serves as assistant director of admissions and has made a significant contribution to diversity at UT in the past four years. Stokes works hard to recruit a student body that represents diverse cultures and backgrounds. He also directs the UT LEAD summer institute, designed to help students adjust to university life. The students live on campus and take a freshman-level English course while also participating in a career and personal development course. Stokes advises the ME4UT program and the campus chapter of the NAACP. He also is active with the Commission for Blacks and the Knoxville Area Urban League National Achievers Program.
