Research and Creative Achievement AwardsThe Research and Creative Achievement Awards were initiated in 1976 to recognize tenured faculty who have received national and/or international recognition in their field, to stimulate research and creative achievement, and to emphasize that research and creative achievement are integral to the mission of The University of Tennessee. The Research and Creative Achievement Awards are limited to tenured faculty members who by the end of the current academic year have more than 10 years of professional experience beyond the terminal degree. The recipients of these prestigious awards will be recognized at the annual Chancellor’s Honors Banquet held in the spring. They will also receive a certificate of achievement and a $3,000 monetary award. Recipients of the award during the previous 10 years are ineligible for this year’s competition. Faculty members who hold Distinguished Scientists and Chairs of Excellence positions are ineligible for these awards because of the recognition and support afforded them through these positions. Each small UTK academic department or budgetary unit may submit the name and credentials of one nominee to the Awards Committee. Larger departments (20 or more faculty members) may submit two nominations. The nominations must include a title page and supporting documentation describing the nominee’s accomplishments and relationship and significance to his or her field for the past ten years. The original and 15 copies of the nomination and supporting materials should be sent to: Research Awards Committee The deadline for receipt of materials is 5:00 p.m., on the last Monday in the month of January. |
