UT Employees to Get Raises

Money close up

I’m pleased to report that our employees will be getting pay raises for the third consecutive year.

The UT Board of Trustees recently passed a budget that will allow the Knoxville campus to give all eligible employees a 1.5 percent across-the-board pay raise or $600, whichever is greater. We also will use an additional 1.5 percent pool to reward our best performers and address market and equity pay issues. Next January, we will use a 2 percent pool to make midyear merit and market adjustments.

I want to thank the governor, legislators, and our board members for supporting the across-the-board increase and our goals for merit pay and addressing equity issues.

The across-the-board increase takes effect July 1 for all regular full-time and part-time staff and faculty with twelve-month appointments who have been on active payroll status as of June 30.

Merit and market/equity increases also will be effective July 1, but employees will receive them in August. Nine-month faculty increases will be effective in August for those on active payroll status by July 31.
