I’m ready to chart this new course with you.
I could not be more excited for today.
After weeks of reconnecting with old friends, meeting new colleagues, and learning everything I can about the incredible work you’ve done at UT since I left nine years ago, I am ready to chart this new course with all of you.
This is a great moment in time for UT. Our research impact continues to grow, the student body is expanding, and the financial investment made by donors and the state shows how much they believe in us. Our momentum speaks to the dedication of each of you who work hard every day to create a high-quality experience for our students.
I am honored to begin work today as chancellor and I commit to listening, learning, and moving forward together with you. I will be hosting regular office hours on campus, starting this afternoon with an informal drop-in for faculty and staff from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Hodges Library Mary Greer Room. I hope to see you there.
At Hodges Library last week, the staff welcomed me with a beautifully painted window with the words “The best journeys always lead you home.”
I am glad to be home.
We have amazing opportunities to move this university to the next level, and I am excited to work with you to dream big and achieve big things.
