New Volunteer Activity Policy

May 19, 2022

Dear colleagues,

Being a Volunteer has always been about stepping forward in service and leadership. As we have finalized our new strategic vision over the past year, we have all leaned into the idea that “It takes a Volunteer.” Many of you have suggested that employees be able to take time off to volunteer in the community—and we love that idea.

I am pleased to announce that we will be implementing a new policy allowing regular employees to use up to eight paid work hours each year to engage in volunteer service. The new policy will go into effect July 1.

This will be an opportunity for you to invest your time in causes and organizations that matter to you. Your university and its leadership support you in all the ways that you seek to make a positive impact on our community and live out the Volunteer spirit. As we approach July, we will provide more detailed information on the policy and how to log volunteer hours.

Thank you for all you do—both on campus and beyond.
