David Sholl to Depart University, UT-ORII
Today the university announced that David Sholl, who has served as vice provost and executive director of the University of Tennessee-Oak Ridge Innovation Institute, will step down at the end of the year to become executive vice president for research at Rice University.
David has been a thoughtful leader who understands the research strengths of both the university and Oak Ridge National Lab and has leveraged those strengths to build on our collaboration. He helped launch five new major research initiatives at the institute—all focused on critical national and state priorities: fusion technology, transportation, circular bioeconomy systems, radiopharmaceutical therapies, and advanced manufacturing for affordable housing.
In his role as vice provost, he’s been a valuable member of our academic leadership. UT-ORII is a critical piece of our strategy to reach the next level in our research footprint and impact. I’m grateful for all of David’s contributions and wish him luck in his new role.
