Robert Nobles to Become Vice President of Research Administration at Emory University
UT Interim Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement Robert Nobles has announced plans to leave UT to become vice president of research administration at Emory University. He will begin serving in his new position December 1.
Dr. Nobles has served as interim twice now, stepping in when asked to lead during times of transition. During his tenure, research expenditures reached a record $260 million last fiscal year. Dr. Nobles has worked to make connections and elevate the visibility of UT’s research enterprise while leading efforts to enhance strategy, operational efficiency, and compliance in order to support the exceptional work of our research faculty and staff. I’m grateful for his dedication and service.
Before joining UT in 2013, Dr. Nobles served as the research compliance officer and a public health faculty member at Texas A&M University and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and a master’s in public health from Florida A&M University and a doctorate in public health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
I am in the process of appointing interim leadership and plan to begin a national search soon. A search committee will be named in the next few weeks.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Nobles and wishing him all the best on his new journey.
