Chancellor Announces the Oak Ridge Institute at the University of Tennessee

Transcript
Hi Vols!
This week, we announce some exciting news: we have been awarded a $20 million federal grant to move forward with the Oak Ridge Institute.
This is a game-changing opportunity for us that will allow us to expand our existing partnership with ORNL, which already includes our Governor’s Chair program and the Bredesen Center.
ORI will allow us to attract even more of the world’s brightest faculty and graduate students.
At the core of this institute is interdisciplinary research.
By working together across disciplines, we can solve some of the world’s grandest challenges.
We will strengthen our research in areas of energy efficiency, smart neighborhoods, grid storage, electric vehicles, advanced materials and manufacturing, and waste-to-energy.
This grant is an investment in the people and the expertise of this university.
It is because of our tremendous faculty, researchers, and graduate students that we have been able to grow this partnership.
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this enterprise over the years and those who have supported this work.
This is a proud moment for all of us, and we will use this momentum to show the world just what we can do.
