Voting and Civility

October 30, 2020

Chancellor's Updates graphic

Hello, Vols. We are less than a week from Election Day, and I hope all of you take the time to cast your ballot whether absentee or in-person, early voting or on Election Day.

Vote. Voting is one of our most sacred civic duties, and who we cast our ballot for is a very personal decision. Our choices are often ones we feel passionate about and that can lead to passionate debate.

Let’s make sure to remember who we are in this moment. Volunteers respect one
another. We treat everyone with dignity and care. That doesn’t mean we have to agree on issues or candidates. In fact, debating those ideas is fundamental to our democracy and the spirit of higher education. But as we engage with one another, let’s do it with civility and decency, like Vols have always done.

Thank you for doing your part, vote, and go Vols.
