Campus Mask Policy Extended

September 7, 2021

Dear students, faculty, and staff,

Today I met with President Randy Boyd and chancellors from across the UT System. Together we decided that because of the continued increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across our state—and the strain that they are putting on our health care system—we will extend our current mask policy for the next few weeks.

This means you will need to continue wearing a face covering on campus when indoors unless you are dining, exercising, or in a private office or residence hall room.

There is good news to share. COVID-19 cases on campus have started trending down. We will continue to monitor cases and will re-evaluate the mask policy in the next few weeks.

I continue to encourage everyone to get vaccinated. You can sign up for an appointment to receive your vaccine at the Student Health Center.

Thank you for wearing your mask and doing your part to keep yourselves and one another safe and healthy.

Chancellor
