Bill Fox to Join Chancellor’s Leadership Team
Dear colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Bill Fox, whose economic expertise and forecasts have informed public policy in Tennessee for decades, will join my leadership team as a special advisor. Dr. Fox’s deep institutional knowledge of the state’s economic landscape and his relationships with elected officials and decision-makers at all levels will be invaluable to our team.
In his new role, Dr. Fox will advise me and the cabinet on matters of economics, budget and finance, workforce needs, corporate engagement, and public policy, as well as serving as an ambassador for the university in these areas.
He will begin July 1, following his retirement as the Randy and Jenny Boyd Distinguished Professor and director of the Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research.
In his time at UT, Dr. Fox has been named Macebearer, the university’s highest honor for faculty, been named a Chancellor’s Professor, and accumulated a funded research total of nearly $47.5 million.
I am also pleased to say that Don Bruce, who is currently the associate director of the Boyd Center and the Douglas and Brenda Horne Professor of Business, will take over as director.
Dr. Bruce has held numerous leadership roles on campus and beyond, including serving as faculty athletics representative to both the NCAA and SEC. I am certain the Boyd Center will be in excellent hands under his leadership. As part of this transition, Dr. Bruce will be appointed to the Randy and Jenny Boyd Distinguished Professorship.
Please join me in congratulating both Dr. Fox and Dr. Bruce on their new roles.
Donde Plowman
Chancellor
