Chris Cimino Announces Retirement
Chris Cimino, senior vice chancellor for finance and administration, has announced that he will be retiring at the end of the calendar year. Chris has been a key member of my cabinet and has served UT Knoxville as senior vice chancellor since 2009.
For nearly 30 years, Chris has been part of the UT family, serving at the UT System office before coming to the UT Knoxville campus in a leadership role. He has been a calm and stable presence through times of transition, and the campus is indebted to him for his leadership.
One of the most common remarks I hear from people about our campus is how beautiful it is. I appreciate the transformation that Chris and his teams have overseen over the past decade.
Under Chris’s leadership, we are in a strong financial position as a campus. We were able to weather the expenses of COVID and have not raised tuition for the past three years while still being able to invest in our future.
Please join me in thanking Chris for his service to UT. He leads a large and important team in finance and administration. I will name an interim before the end of the year to serve that team and our campus while we launch a national search.
